Sarah Esau
Daily Program Director
Sarah has been playing piano for over fifteen years and is completing an Education degree at the University of Lethbridge. Sarah has a passion for encouraging and empowering youth and creating safe places, which has led to years of involvement in children’s programming. She has experience in classrooms, summer camps, youth groups, teaching private music lessons, and working overseas and with newcomer students in Canada. Sarah can often be found learning about psychology, watching musicals, and singing and dancing to her favorite songs. Sarah believes in the power that music has to create safe spaces, bring people together, and help kids discover who they are and become leaders in their community.
James Nelson
Family Liaison/Piano Instructor
When James isn't listening to music, he's usually playing music on an instrument, such as the piano, guitar, or bass. If none of these instruments are available, James will make due by humming or whistling.
James has experience teaching piano and a degree in music and digital audio from the University of Lethbridge. Not only is James passionate about making music, he also is passionate about the ways that music can connect people. He is very excited to collaborate with the other teachers at Branches to create a fun and welcoming environment for the children who attend.
Daniel Beeson-Bergeron
Guitar Instructor
As the guitar teacher Daniel has a passion for all things guitars. He is currently in his final year at the University of Lethbridge studying music and classical guitar performance. From electric to acoustic and classical to rock ‘n’ roll, Daniel can find a song to share in just about any style and share this enthusiasm while teaching guitar to kids of all ages. His experience with different styles helps make quick connections with his students to help build and foster their love for music.
Bakhora

Piano Teacher
Bakhora has been teaching music for over 10 years. During which she has worked with different aged groups of children.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music and is currently doing her Master’s Degree at the University of Lethbridge.
Bakhora’s love of children and passion for teaching enables her to bring out the very best in each student. She believes in the countless benefits of music in one’s life.
Jessica Groeneveld
Founder
Jessica is the founder of Branches. If you take a look through any family photo album, you will quickly see that there was never a time in her life that music was not front and centre. When asked, Jessica will tell you that the two things she is most passionate about are music, and ensuring that all children have a chance to realize their dreams.
Jessica is excited about seeing Branches grow, as it is a culmination of all her investment in this field and these passions. She has been teaching violin since 2014 , holds a degree in music from the University of Lethbridge, has had multiple jobs in program planning for children, and six months living in Africa working with children and families from all walks of life.
